Mason Documentation

Note: This documentation assumes that you have a Ghost blog setup and running on a server. If you don't have a Ghost blog setup yet, we highly recommend using Ghost(Pro). You can learn more about installing Ghost here.

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing Mason! Please take the time to review the documentation below and you'll have your blog set up in no time!

Installation

To install Feature, head to yourdomain.com/ghost/#/settings/design/change-theme. Click the 'Upload theme' button and upload the mason.zip file that came with your purchase. Click 'Activate' and the theme is ready to go!

The primary navigation is used in the header. To edit these menus go to yourdomain.com/ghost/#/settings/navigation.

More Menu

After 3 menu items the rest will appear in the more dropdown. Make sure youre first 3 items are the most important for visibility!

The secondary navigation is used in the footer.

Featured Posts

When you set posts as "Featured" they are displayed with a chip/tag indicating that the post is featured.

Theme Settings

To update the design settings, head to yourdomain.com/ghost/#/settings/design.

Brand Settings

Site description: Used in your site meta tag for search engines.
Accent color: Used to style the buttons in ghost membership modals.
Publication icon: Used as the browser tab icon.
Publication logo: Used as the primary logo in the header and footer. If you are using a dark background for your homepage. Set a light version in the Primary color contrast logo setting as well.
Publication cover: This setting is not used to maintain the design integrity.

Site-wide Settings

Primary color: Sets the intro banner background and button colors.
Primary color contrast: Sets the intro and button text colors.
Primary color contrast logo: Sets the logo applied in the intro section on top of the primary color.
Card author: Toggles the post author on the cards.
Card tags: Toggles the post tags on the cards.
Card date: Toggles the post date on the cards.
Footer subscribe: Toggles the subscribe form in the footer. Must have memberships enabled.
Footer subscribe text: Sets the text displayed with the footer subscribe form.
Footer copyright text: Sets custom copyright text displayed in the footer.

Homepage Settings

Intro toggle: Toggles the intro section.
Intro image: Sets the image for the intro title.
Intro subtitle: Sets the subtitle above the intro title.
Intro title: Sets the main title in the intro section.
Intro description: Sets a short paragraph displayed below the intro title.
Intro author slug for socials: Enter the author slug to display social links.

Post Settings

Post author: Toggles the post author for the post page.
Post tags: Toggles the post tags for the post page.
Post date: Toggles the post date for the post page.

Recommendations

We recommend using an SVG for your publication logo for crisp display on all devices.
Make sure to set the "primary color contrast logo" if you are using a dark background as your "primary color".
